Mr. Thurk has over 30 years of experience in the telecommunications, data networks, optical networks and IP communications industries. Currently he is the chief operating officer and a member of the board of directors of Avaya, a leading provider of business communications applications, systems and services. Mr. Thurk’s previous roles have included serving as president of Avaya’s Global Communications Solutions group, executive vice president at Ericsson and other management and executive roles at Digital Equipment and General DataComm. Mr. Thurk also was the CEO of Xyplex Networks.

Mr. Thurk holds a BSCS from Purdue University and an MBA from Babson College, and he completed the Advanced Management Program at INSEAD in France. Mr. Thurk is also a member of the board of directors at Ansys, Inc., a publicly traded company.
