RMI Expands Board of Directors with Enterprise and Infrastructure
Executive
Networking veteran Michael Thurk joins expanded board of directors bringing experience
in enterprise and infrastructure markets to RMI
Cupertino, CA, March 26, 2008 — RMI Corporation, a leading supplier of multi-core,
multi-threaded processors for communications and consumer applications, today
announced that it has expanded its Board of Directors to include Michael Thurk, chief
operating officer of Avaya, Inc., a leading global provider of business communications
applications, systems and services. Mr. Thurk brings to the RMI board an extensive
background in the enterprise and infrastructure markets, as well as a keen
understanding of the worldwide converged communications landscape. The new director
joins RMI’s board during a period of rapid business growth and will help guide the welldiversified
product and technology company as it accelerates its worldwide marketing
strategy.
RMI recently expanded the size of its board of directors to seven members. In addition
to Mr. Thurk, RMI’s board includes newly appointed members, Donald Schrock, former
group president, Qualcomm, Inc. and Richard F. Wallman, former chief financial officer
at Honeywell International, Inc., as well as existing members, Behrooz Abdi, president
and chief executive officer, RMI Corporation, Joe Landy, co-president, Warburg Pincus,
LLC, Bruce Dunlevie, senior partner at Benchmark Capital and Henry Kressel, partner
and a senior managing director of Warburg Pincus, LLC.

Michael Thurk
Mr. Thurk has over 30 years of experience in the telecommunications, data networks,
optical networks and IP communications industries. Currently he is the chief operating
officer and a member of the board of directors of Avaya, a leading provider of business
communications applications, systems and services. Mr. Thurk’s previous roles have
included serving as president of Avaya’s Global Communications Solutions group,
executive vice president at Ericsson and other management and executive roles at
Digital Equipment and General DataComm. Mr. Thurk also was the CEO of Xyplex
Networks. Mr. Thurk holds a BSCS from Purdue University and an MBA from Babson
College, and he completed the Advanced Management Program at INSEAD in France.
Mr. Thurk is also a member of the board of directors at Ansys, Inc., a publicly traded
company.
