The RMI Alchemy™ PMP Reference Design is a complete tool for developing advanced Personal Media Player (PMP) systems to drive audio, video, pictures, and more. This versatile and powerful design also supports Digital Media Broadcast (DMB) and Digital Video Broadcast (DVB) formats and Global Positioning System (GPS) requirements.

The RMI Alchemy PMP Reference Design's features are what you need to create products for today's demands. Optimum power management helps deliver long battery life and operating flexibility. High integration offers the versatility to create small form factor products to deliver exceptional media playback. Expandability means you can add extra capabilities such as DMB, DVB, and GPS.

No Need for DSP's

The RMI Alchemy Au1200 processor incorporates an integrated Media Acceleration Engine optimized for video to eliminate the need for DSP's and specialized coding. This means less overall power consumption and a simplified design.

Leveraging Proven PMP Processor Power

The RMI Alchemy PMP Reference Design is designed around the proven performance of the RMI Alchemy Au1200 processor, which brings true System-on-Chip (SoC) simplicity to PMP designs. Eliminating the need for DSP, the Au1200 processor can provide complete stand-alone support for digital media playback, including MPEG 2/4, DivX, and WMV9/VC-1, and deliver full DI resolution without the need for transcoding. The Au1200 is designed to enable your PMP to download media quickly and generate DVD-quality video with full-frame rates.
